Friday Spotlight #14: Fun Project Tutorial

First of all, thanks so much for the queries and well-wishes! They have been much appreciated. I started feeling really yucky over the weekend and ended up having to go to the hospital on Monday morning, where I was diagnosed with the Flu! No fun at all, especially on top of being almost 9 months pregnant. Either one of those things alone would kick my butt--having them together has been no fun at all. But, the good news is that I am starting to feel a little better.

And, in 1 week from today, baby Logan will be making his appearance into the world! Still seems surreal sometimes.

Anyway, I want to start mixing up the spotlights instead of focusing on stores every week, so from now on it will be tutorials, challenges, stores, kits, etc...pretty much anything I find interesting or want to share :)

So, here we go for today. I created this project using my July English Garden kit from Scrapperie. The part, specifically, that I worked with was the Cosmo Cricket, Girl Friday collection.

I have a little cousin who is in the first grade, and is struggling with spelling and reading. She is also a major girlie girl! So, I immediately thought of her when I saw this paper:

I didn't take step-by-step pictures, but here is what I did:

1. Cut out each individual letter from the paper. I left a little of the tan color as a mat for the letter.

2. Using mod-podge, I glued each letter to some bright pink cardstock, to make it stand out. Be sure to leave enough room for a mat. Just for extra protection, I covered the whole thing with an extra top coat of mod-podge. Then, cut out each letter again, leaving a bright pink cardstock matting behind. Here is a close up of some of the letters:

3. I was recently blessed with a cricut! Very cool, but I got so used to not having one that I haven't even used it yet. So, I got it out and cut the bag w/ my cricut and some more matching cardstock. Here is the entire set. I can't wait to give it to my cousin so that she will have some fun letters to practice with :)

For this week's giveaway, I am offering up another kit. No pics yet, but my kits are always fun (if I do say so myself! lol)...to be entered to win the kit, just leave a note with your favorite scrappy site--store, challenge, forums, any kind of scrapbooking site...just tell us what you love about it.
